Album Review: Jayteehazard - Red Shift

StarStarStarStar

"This EP is thrilling stuff."

Making instrumental hip hop for Elefant Traks can’t be easy. Hermitude – the Elefant (forgive me) in the room – have been too successful, and too bloody excellent, to do anything but throw shade on any other labelmates trying to walk the same path. Not that Jayteehazard seems to have noticed. This EP is thrilling stuff. Opener, We Do is a monster. Seconds in, one’s head begins to nod and a grin begins to spread. The title track shows he’s digested the ‘using space to create drama’ lessons dubstep has to teach us. Solis is a hypnotic, quixotic closer.
