It’s the title track and closer, based upon a poem written by De Heer’s grandfather, that’s the real standout on the record.
Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Isaac De Heer's third long-player is a folk-tinged, largely acoustic record. Not interested in another Vance Joy? Don't despair, there are enough layers in Summer to pique the interest of more than just the average string junkie. Faster-paced track Spaceships and the ominous sounds of Colca Canyon deserve particular note. But it's the title track and closer, based upon a poem written by De Heer's grandfather, that's the real standout on the record – melodic and so soothing that it could have a statue swaying its head from side-to-side, this intergenerational collaboration is a must.
