No one can deny that Hound set out with ample lust to make a totally awesome debut.
For the most part Dying In The Sun delivers; the Brisbane four-piece pull off a grim and gritty post-punk vibe – think Sonic Youth, Fugazi – and even a bit of casual surf-pop in Something Else. Waste The Day, Gamekeeper and God Is Calling all make good on that promise of fuzzy tones, chaotic lines and a devil-may-care singer. It’s just in the album’s second half that things get a bit weighed down with repetition.
