"Holydrug Couple have stepped away from more familiar psych tropes and embraced the Gallic electronic spirit with second album 'Moonlust'."

Chilean duo Holydrug Couple have stepped away from more familiar psych tropes and embraced the Gallic electronic spirit with second album Moonlust.

From allusions to Frenchmen Air on Atlantic Postcard and If I Could Find You (Eternity) to a hint of Gainsbourg on Light Or Night, the chilled lounge approach sees the band in a weightless sonic expanse, heavily indebted to electronic minimalism and slick production cues. There are still some psychedelic flourishes on the ironically titled French Movie Theme, but Moonlust is more about narcoleptic drift, submerged on the fringes of louche disco whimsy.
