Album Review: Hollow World - Exanimate

Hollow World do what good metal bands do. 

That is, take things to extremes: with blast beats and double-kick drumming flying everywhere, jagged guitars slicing through everything in sight and howling vocals that sound like a banshee from hell. At the same time, they add subtle touches of melody, ambience, dynamics and even some symphonic bombast to their sound amid the mayhem. It injects emotion and some very welcome contrast that sticks in your mind long moments after listening.

Any heavy band worth their salt can shred and be brutal, the truly skilful ones make it memorable too. Exanimate is an instant Aussie heavy music classic.
