"And just like a wholesome meal, Shanahan’s heart-warming Extended Play is good for body and soul and highly recommended."

More Helen Shanahan More Helen Shanahan

Continuing the romantic, nautical themes from her previous album, Driftwood, Shanahan’s latest effort is surely representative of her well-earned sea legs.

The EP begins with a wonderful track, Across The Seas, with a firm grasp on her roots, yet also decidedly progressive. Dead Weight injects a little adrenaline and breaks up the indie songwriter vibe a little with a heavy groove and rhythm and blues sensibilities, like adding the perfect amount of spice to a wholesome meal. And just like a wholesome meal, Shanahan’s heart-warming Extended Play is good for body and soul and highly recommended.
