Live Review: HAVE YOU HEARD: Phondupe

Phondupe is a global operation: conceived in Japan, & lovingly raised in Sydney. Their sound is best described as a moody/poppy electronica

We love hearing about new music, especially when it manages to tickle our fancy. So when Phondupe came into our sights (and eardrums) we were thrilled to be able to share it with you. Phondupe is a global operation: conceived in Japan, and lovingly raised in Sydney. Their sound is best described as a moody yet poppy electronica, and it's quite adventurous - but the smooth vibe, and sexy vocals will draw you in from the get-go.

A story of success: Phondupe are another of those bands who undertook the DIY technique of recording everything at home on a broken laptop. They quickly garnered attention after uploading their tracks online, gaining themselves a spot on triple j Unearthed rotation, as well as airplay on FBi and 2ser. It's lovely to see when DIY comes good.

We've taken a particular liking to their track 'Aviary West', with it and 'Hideyoshi’s Seven Skillful Spearmen of Shizugatake' up for streaming on their Soundcloud.
