Album Review: Grey Reverend - A Hero's Lie

26 August 2013 | 10:36 am | Lorin Reid

This record’s a slow burner that slips into the background of your consciousness over time, and once there it will find a reason to stay lodged for a long while.

A Hero's Lie is simplicity done right. Small, decorative string sections grace finite moments of space between the vocals that lie haunted with a sense of hopelessness. Sometimes songs begin to blend together because they are essentially fuelled by the same tempo and mood, but the storyline of the lyrics is always captivating enough to keep the listener on track.
