Album Review: Greenthief - Voyage

"Start following them now."

If their debut is anything to go by, Melbourne psych/garage-rockers Greenthief should be on any self-respecting rock listener's radar if they aren't already. Voyage is just that, a journey (is trip too obvious a term here?) told over and over. Each tune soars and moves, though never in a clichéd crescendo-core-epic fashion, despite an epic power pervading the record. Sounds ebb and flow between crunchy Mars Volta-esque grooves and King Crimson-styled progressive masculine metal. Despite never really leaving their comfort zones, Greenthief have achieved great heights on this, especially for a debut. Start following them now.
