Three Niles siblings and a friend make up this foursome, and their debut album is a scratchy, sharp style of pop that’s in some ways a throwback to, say, Sonic Youth in the opener, Anu, and Pixies in Mommy.
Elements of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Brian Jonestown Massacre also sneak into tracks like Faith Healer and Echolalia, while Liv Niles taking over lead vocals on I’m In Love With A Teenage Heartthrob is a welcome shake-up. Really though, they borrow a little too much from their influences, producing nothing we haven’t heard before.
