Album Review: Future Brown - Future Brown

StarStarStarStarHalf Star

"Forward-thinking, the future is here."

Future Brown sees Fatima Al Qadiri and J-Cush teaming up with Nguzunguzu’s Daniel Pineda and Asma Maroof.

The quartet push boundaries as they create a deep but minimal electronic sound that moves across trap, grime, R&B, dancehall and reggaeton. Genuinely breaking things down, they arrive at a place that makes these hip hop-inspired grooves sound fresh. Rising vocalist Kelela kills it on the dreamy Dangerzone. She’s only one on a long list of guest vocalists that takes in underground Chi town heroes Sicko Mobb, DJ Victoriouz, Shawna and Jamaican dancehall queen Timberlee. Forward-thinking, the future is here.
