"The fact that he’s subtly deconstructing his own comedy show at the same time is all part of its delightfulness. Just because it’s slapstick, doesn’t mean it can’t be clever too."
Frank Woodley is a man of many talents. If this was just an hour of him putting his best clown shoe forward, it'd be funny enough, but Fool's Gold is so much more. Over the course of the hour, Woodley pulls off a baffling piece of magic, tells a couple of beautifully whimsical stories and plays a rather fetching-looking guitar. The fact that he's subtly deconstructing his own comedy show at the same time is all part of its delightfulness. Just because it's slapstick, doesn't mean it can't be clever too.
