Album Review: Four Tet - Beautiful Rewind

Its eclectic time signatures and vocal loops will hardly please everyone, but to those they will – that’ll hardly matter a bit.

More Four Tet Four Tet

Kieran Hebden playfully teased that the seventh Four Tet album would be released with “no last minute Rick Rubin” as a cheeky shot at Kanye West's ultra-modern release of Yeezus. How amusing it is then, that the record features some of the darkest and most pulsing production of his career. More electro and dance-driven than his past material, Beautiful Rewind channels jazz ideas through house, dubstep and outsider noise music to create something truly original. Its eclectic time signatures and vocal loops will hardly please everyone, but to those they will – that'll hardly matter a bit.
