Album Review: Flyying Colours - ROYGBIV

StarStarStarStar

"A near perfect collision of pop melodies and shoegaze textures."

More Flyying Colours Flyying Colours

On their new EP Flyying Colours take their sound a step further, refining their songwriting into a near perfect collision of pop melodies and shoegaze textures.

The expected touchstones Ride, MBV and Chapterhouse are all there but they're filtered through a gauze that's equal parts Smashing Pumpkins and dream pop. The songs are tight and the rhythm section drives them along with real verve and propulsion, allowing the guitars and vocals of Brodie J Brümmer and Gemma O'Connor to create some wonderful sonic and melodic interplay. Running Late in particular is the perfect distraction from daily life.
