The Bamboos' new album, Medicine Man features collaborations with artists such as Tim Rogers and Washington. What a talented collective.
As much as we all obviously love the indie rock scene with its airy vocals, experimental guitar and raw, low-budget sound it’s always healthy to spice things up with something a little bit different. Melbourne outfit, THE BAMBOOS, certainly have you covered for that extra zing on your baked potato. Their soulful funk will have you imagining your own strut scene straight out of Starsky and Hutch.
Lead by Lance Ferguson, THE BAMBOOS are a 9-piece ensemble who have achieved international recognition and a dedicated following. Oozing with ‘Superfly” cool, their new single ‘I Got Burned’ features the unmistakeable vocals of Tim Rogers from You Am I. Other notable musicians appearing on their new album, Medicine Man, include Aloe Blacc, Daniel Merriweather, Washington and Bobby Flynn.

The UK’s Blues & Soul Magazine labelled Ferguson as "The Aussie King Of Deep Funk...Australia's answer to Mark Ronson" and that’s a pretty good way to sum him up. Ferguson must have one of those manic, music minds, never opting for just a stroll on the footpath. Instead, he takes THE BAMBOOS, sets them loose on the grass and experimentswith new elements, sounds and lyrics, keeping things fresher than the prince of Bel Air.
