Premium Sydney songbird Elana Stone returns with new EP Kintsugi, the first of two that combine to form her third LP under the same name.

It’s a bright listen with plenty of light airy passages and ‘50s pop harmonies camouflaging considerable emotional heft. Stone has a keen sense of balance and steps deftly between feathery psychedelia (King Of Kong), minimalist nocturnal atmospherics and rich pop drama (Sleep Doesn’t Come). Stone is a versatile performer, and Emotions is an excellent case in point, offering Mariah Carey by way of The xx.
