"Have a listen as you sip your latte and stare at the sea, but don't expect HiperAsia to linger long."
El Guincho continues to frustrate. This time around, six years since his most recent album Pop Negro, he has applied his considerable talent for percussion and sampling to create the perfect beachside cafe soundtrack.
HiperAsia is inoffensive and undemanding. There's nothing to take umbrage at, but that also means there is nothing to be challenged by. De Bugas' frenetic drums are too low in the mix to divert from the gentle melody they support. Only Abdi, a song that switches gear a surprising number of times in a minute and 50 seconds, deserves reflection. Have a listen as you sip your latte and stare at the sea, but don't expect HiperAsia to linger long.
