Many years have passed since Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros' Home plastered itself all over the radio, and despite a couple more releases since and some quality solo material produced by lead singer Alexander Ebert, they've been rarely sighted as a collective.
PersonA is their first release since the departure of singer Jade Castrinos, and the sprawling record covers everything from folk, jazz and cabaret. Ebert channels Nina Simone on a number of tracks (Let It Down is one example) and the raucous streets of New Orleans — where PersonA was recorded — can be found all over it. It's free, it's different and it's strangely therapeutic.
