"You’re there for the dancing – not the conversation"
Guest vocalists take the reins on Weekend At Donny’s, Benet’s third intriguing disco disc. This time, a palatable dancetorium of cascading drums punctuates long walking bass lines, while wailing siren synths have you half expecting John Travolta to burst in, legs akimbo. Sadly, gems from Jack Ladder and more are routinely sullied by woeful lyrics and general track-by-track repetitiveness.
The lesson here is to spend your weekend at Donny’s with an open mind, have a bunch of fun while you’re there but don’t linger, and remember; you’re there for the dancing – not the conversation.
