Live Review: Deon Custom ‘Ice Cream’

DEON CUSTOM resides in the Netherlands, and he loves us here in Aus. His latest single sees him cite SABLE, COSMO’S MIDNIGHT and WAVE RACER as references.

After what has been a killer year for Australian artists all across the globe, it’s cool to see the reception of their work stretch as far as the Netherlands.

DEON CUSTOM resides in the Netherlands, and he loves us here in Aus. His latest single sees him cite SABLE, COSMO’S MIDNIGHT and WAVE RACER as references to the sound. He’s pretty bang on with it though.

‘Ice Cream’ is the second of a constant stream of output we seem to be receiving from the producer. It was only 2 or so weeks ago that he put out ‘Glossy’, another huge single.

‘Ice Cream’ feels more SABLE than anything to me. It’s upbeat, it’s fun and it’s playful. The synths dance energetically with the self-sampled whistle, and it’s the way that the sounds intertwine that will leave an incredible smile on your face.

DEON CUSTOM’s work is cool and collected. He’s worked hard to achieve this degree of fun in his work, and I feel as though live, he’d put on one hell of a show.

‘Ice Cream’ is a continuation of evidence that basically shows how much of a reach Australian artists have, and it’s really cool to see guys like DEON CUSTOM creating killer works alongside these guys.
