This debut album from Newcastle artist De'May is a pleasant surprise, featuring as it does her quirky songwriting, sultry voice and deconstructed band. Most of the songs follow the same theme suggested in the album title and she breathes life into the idea of ghosts and escaping unhealthy relationships among other things. Highlights include the pop friendly Like You Talked and Red Wine Fever, the latter proving she understands the blues. Apparently she grew up learning Neil Young's Harvest and it shows on this wonderful mish-mash.
