"Not to say there aren't good moments, [ ] but this could have been better."

Swedish two-piece Dead Soul sound heaps like their Canadian inspiration, The Tea Party, but there's something not quite right here.

Vocalist and guitarist Anders Landelius has Jeff Martin's voice down pat, but his vocals are seriously overblown and lyrics like "I took the midnight train through my brain" are unintentionally funny. Here, Landelius teams up with electronic producer Niels Nielsen, but the mash-up of styles sounds a little dated. That's not to say there aren't good moments, especially the hauntingly beautiful Dirt Road, but this could have been better.
