Album Review: Darlia - Candyman

Singer Nathan Day looks suitably energetically troubled, and will no doubt find an audience of similar interests and angst.

Working perfectly into the 20-year revival cycle, there's a touch of what was once called 'grunge' about Darlia, but in their Englishness it's dressed a little better, and is a little more articulate in the angst and uneasiness expressed. This actually collects their breakthrough singles from the UK, from the title track's howl to Animal Kingdom's somewhat more scruffily melodic take on what they do. Queen Of Hearts does the soft/loud thing to blueprint. Singer Nathan Day looks suitably energetically troubled, and will no doubt find an audience of similar interests and angst.
