Dan Wilson is the voice behind that Semisonic song Closing Time, and an industry co-writer and collaborator (Adele's Someone Like You anyone?). His voice is still smooth and listenable, as are his songs, in that inoffensive rock-pop way. While beautifully produced and orchestrated, and with moments of fine melody, these songs feel a little soulless. A little more heart and a little less craft would have made it memorable and not simply well-made. A glimpse of that possibility is closer Even The Stars Are Sleeping, co-written by Rachael Yamagata and featuring Missy Higgins on duet vocals.
