The first-ever artist album from Melbourne legend Ennio Styles’ Heard & Felt label was always going to be an event.
It comes courtesy of another Melbourne native in Cy Gorman and is every bit as jazzy, funky and genre-bending as we expected. Effortlessly blending and chopping funky, farty analogue synth bass lines, Nintendo hip hop and slow-motion jazz disco, Carmen never sits still. The Diving Bell is a groin-grinding battle between good and evil while folkie, Gian Slater-featured The Wishing Well invokes the sound of ‘90s English band The Sundays. Equally beautiful and ugly.
