"Not quite Club Tropicana, this is still one hell of a beach party."

This lot come across as an excitable bunch, hyperactively pushing out a tangled mess of world influences brought together to produce a joyous noise that has serious uplift.

The title references exotica but there is a more of a distinctly tropicalia feel throughout this album. Bringing together the cheekiness of Brazilian rhythms, cruisy Caribbean grooves, indie-rock, Syrian pop and jazzy melodies at times feel unfocused but the arrangements deliver familiar sounds in surprising new contexts. Cristobal And The Sea certainly want listeners to shake it off and just have some fun with this album. Not quite Club Tropicana, this is still one hell of a beach party.
