"It's great to hear Finn's tales of mid-west America told with a new musical backdrop."

With his second solo effort, Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn makes it even clearer that he's much more than just the Hold Steady's frontman.

Away from his band, it's great to hear Finn's tales of mid-west America told with a new musical backdrop. With allusions to Bruce Springsteen, Bob Mould and even a hint of Neil Diamond, the words are pure Finn, but the music and production are so much more beautifully lush and varied than he usually gets to sing over. Less bar-room raucous rock and more coffee-house troubadour, Finn has found another great outlet for the seemingly endless stories he has to tell.
