Being the genre whore he is, he flirted with pop, R&B, hip hop, indie and hard rock all in the span of two hours.
The mystery guest of the night, Eirwen Skye made her presence known with a mind-blowing set. The graceful playing of a melodica took the audiences to the streets of old-timey Europe while the recorder and ukulele created serene musical landscapes. On top of this her vocal range is insane. Eirwen Skye matched Nina Simone note for note in her a cappella cover of Be My Husband, while hiding the seedy underbellies of her songs and lyrics via the most gentle of lulling with Be My Carousel. Eirwen Skye is an act few would dare to follow.
With the help of his backing band, Cosmo Jarvis gave his crowd a very slick set. Being the genre whore he is, he flirted with pop, R&B, hip hop, indie and hard rock all in the span of two hours. He put all of his energy into his music as he sweated profusely all over the stage, even having to suck the saliva out his microphone after each song. It was the kind of set fans hope for. He even let Sydney in on two new songs from his upcoming album, playing them live for the first time.
Though it is difficult to fault his musicianship, he was lacking in his interaction with the crowd. While he was not intending to be isolating and it's just the way he is, following a support act that went out of her way to actively converse with the crowd with anecdotes and back-and-forths, it seemed jaded. Girls shouting out “I love you” were rebutted with “don't”, while an audience member who asked if he could sing happy birthday to her friend was told he did not know the chords.
