Can We Hang On? asks the second track of Cold War Kid's LA Divine.

The beauty of Nathan Willett's voice is that the answer to this question is never clear - as if he is always about to fall from the edge of a precipice. This knack means that the LA pop-punk outfit are uniquely placed to imagine lower middle class Americana in 2017. "What's the difference if we disagree?" Willet coos on Free To Breathe, "It doesn't change the news on the streets".

At times, LA Divine's lyrics fly too close to the literal, but ultimately it does what the Cold War Kids do best: find sunlight in ruins.
