"Filled with dramatic tones and an enchanting vocal intensity, it’s mind-blowing that she is just 22 years old."

More Cloves More Cloves

Cloves, the artist name of Kaity Dunstan, provides a hair-raising experience on One Big Nothing, with her powerful vocal ability putting you in a musical trance as you’re drawn into every note and hook. The undoubtable fierceness in her grows as the album progresses - filled with dramatic tones and an enchanting vocal intensity, it’s mind-blowing that she is just 22 years old.

Frail Love is a solid example of Dunstan's capabilities, as her vocal notes go from delicately low to luminously high in a few short seconds. A more youthful sounding Dunstan comes out in the flirty tune Kiss Me In The Dark, without losing that incredible old-soul sound of hers. The record sees Cloves rerelease her 2015 debut single Don’t You Wait, which has seemingly intensified and matured as Dunstan has.

As a great soul album should, the tragic emotions of the record somehow calm you. There was a time the press were calling Adele the new Amy Winehouse, well, we’re calling it. With a few more years up her sleeve and some more records of this calibre, Cloves might just take that crown one day.
