2015 has been a year of experiment so far. I mean we’ve seen and heard from some artists who pushed the boundaries in 2014, but it’s wicked to see them continue to push past what’s conventional and what’s not.
We’ve seen the invention and destruction of genres over the past 5 years, particularly in relation to dance and electronic music. Sub-genres were created and fan followings were instigated. But one thing still remains the same. And that is the passion artists have to create that next new thing.
Tessier-Ashpool label legend LIAR has taken on CLOAKA with this exact approach. I would say this sound is anything but conventional, and certainly challenges the motifs of what we consider to be normal and “effective”.
‘Adapt’ basically has a new spin on it. LIAR’s turned it into this schizoid megalomash of techno, bass and futurism. It has a shiny aesthetic, but if you delve deeper into the murky tech void, it’s abundant with life and teeming with skillful bouts of craftsmanship.

More than anything however, I feel that this track represents change. And it’s an evident change that’s definitely sweeping the entire industry and its audience.
