"It was hot, it was sticky, there was beer and arms flying in every direction and everyone was moving and having a blast."
After an almost sold-out national tour, Client Liaison found themselves in Hobart for one more night. There was a sea of screams as they took to the stage dressed with their usual pizzazz and ready for round two. Things were hot and sweaty straight away and it felt like one big communal aerobics class as soon as they began. Everyone had been warmed up nicely by their support, Luke Million, and were more than ready to groove.
Soon jackets started coming off and we really got into the thick of it. Songs from their latest album Diplomatic Immunity, and old classics like Queen, were flowing freely with banger after banger such as World Of Our Love and Do It My Way encouraging the crowd to keep going with their craziest '80s-style dance moves. Before too long there was a quick outfit change with frontman Monte Morgan donning a beautiful gold blouse. Apparently they weren't allowed to bring their off-white limousine on the Spirit of Tasmania, which was a real shame, but they played the song anyway and it was just as good.
It was hot, it was sticky, there was beer and arms flying in every direction and everyone was moving and having a blast. I don't think there's ever been a Client Liaison gig that hasn't been spectacularly fun and left people wanting more. Having only seen them at festivals in the past, it was awesome to see them play to a smaller, more intimate crowd and still make it feel as though you were at a festival having the time of your life. As the end of the night neared, they left the stage but were summonsed back by a resounding encore for one final mash-up of classic bangers, including a little snippet of Savage Garden's I Want You. Everyone left feeling like they'd just completed the most fun workout of their lives in a world of Client Liaison love. If you get the chance to see them, whether on their own or at a festival, do yourself a favour and make sure you get there, you won't regret it!
