Album Review: Chrome Sparks - Goddess

Riddled with augmented exotic notes, celestial opener The Meaning Of Love impressively introduces US solo artist Jeremy Malvin's woozy new release. His nuanced electronica is a bubbling stew of amalgamated sounds and rhythmic percussion that sees different subtle elements floating to the surface at various points. A longing melody is filtered through buzzing layers in the stunningly arcade-like Star Step: a modern take on an '80s sci-fi epic. The rest of Goddess really steps up the busy, frenetic tones, maintaining a chiefly uplifting attitude amid Malvin's highly dense sonic approach. He plays at Howler on 26 Jul.
