Popular Kiwi expat, Cal Wilson, returned for this year’s Comedy Fest with a new show – Undercurrents.
Promoting the show with her trademark “literal” humour (with a poster of her swimming under actual currants), the show got off to a bizarre start with the audience learning lessons from imaginary otters operating mechanical swans (a metaphor for the undercurrents we all have swirling beneath our collective surfaces). Moving on to more familiar territory, Wilson quipped about family life, imaginary friends and the importance of lying to your children – all topped with a healthy dose of trans-Tasman one-upmanship.
