Album Review: CactusDemonDoom - Flower Jesus Hoon

2 June 2014 | 8:50 am | Brendan Telford

Dirty fun for the whole family.

Out of the nocturnal swamp of Nambour comes CactusDemonDoom, a multi-limbed beast mewling and mauling in equal measure. The band have only been together for six months, yet debut album Flower Jesus Hoon shows great promise, the group's penchant for Cramps-style down-in-the-gutter punk nihilism juxtaposed with garage-lite sensibilities making for an intriguing listen. This Is When The Freaks Come Out! and Poison Head have slime under the nails, songs like Are Ya Chasin' Brother? and quasi-instrumental Shannyn Sossamon show the absurd side, while closer Backwards simply kills. Dirty fun for the whole family.
