Album Review: Broadwing - Pinhole Camera

StarStarStarHalf Star

You‘re interested enough to wonder what happens next.

Although Ben Allen is essentially a one-man band from Alice Springs, this is not the music of desert sunsets and endless horizons. It is home wrought electronics mixed with some real instrumentation, which could come from a back room full of things of wood and wire from many locations. In turns you'll hear a sometimes distinctly Australian voice, here and there recalling a Paul Dempsey muse on existence, while the highlighted Anodyne draws from back further – perhaps those early Peter Gabriel albums that were on Gotye's hard drive.
