Album Review: Bok Bok - Your Charizmatic Self

Bok Bok recently rocked dancefloors across the county with his brand of rhythm and grime or R&G. Who knows what that actually means but in simple terms Bok Bok deals '80s-styled electro funk that's heavy on the funk. Melba's Call recalls vintage Jam & Lewis with experimental edge while vocalist Kelela sounds like she's filling in for Janet Jackson. It's not until we get to tracks like Funkiest (Be Yourself) and Greenhouse (Night) that this South Londoner's grime roots become more immediately apparent. Bok Bok is a creative if not innovative producer.
