"There's a shocking revelation: that he may, in fact, be straight."
There's something strangely satisfying about seeing a camp gay man butcher a medley of hits in a mock Roy Orbison accent. This kind of malarkey is par for the course tonight, and when Bob Downe isn't prompting audience members to wave their hands in the air, he parades the stage in trademark safari suit putting the “bang in gang”. Musical accompaniment is provided by his band, The Full Catastrophe, which Downe allows some (begrudging) spotlight. Peppered with puns and the shocking revelation that he may, in fact, be straight (gasp!), the show climaxes with a punchline that is as outrageous as he is.
