"Mediocre guitar rock."
There's respectable blood running through the veins of US rockers Black Star Riders, being mostly comprised from Irish blues rock legends Thin Lizzy alumni.
It's a shame then that BSR couldn't bring more to the table than mediocre guitar rock. The first half of Heavy Fire doesn't deviate too much from its riff/breakdown/chorus/solo shtick, the exception being the title track that spirals off into some Lizzy-esque blues territory. But with the second half offering more of the same and lyrics like "I heard the thunder/saw the lightning strike the sky" in Thinking About You Could Get Me Killed, it's pretty slim pickings.
