Montreal 1976. The Summer Olympic Games. Steroids, East German swimmers and poutine.

All are explored in Games Of The XXI Olympiad, Melbourne band Black Cab’s fourth LP and first in five years (okay, you might have to be in the midst of a three-day bender to find the poutine references, but that’s the kind of research that we go into here at The Music).

Steeped in dark electronica with psychedelic overtones, Games Of The XXI Olympiad is a challenging exploration of soundscapes and storytelling, but it is ultimately rewarding and represents not only Black Cab in their element, but also a moment in history that deserves reliving.
