Live Review: Bhad Bhabie

For those who don't know who Bhad Bhabie aka Danielle Bregoli may be, think back to 2016 when the infamous, ‘Cash me outside, how bout dat?’ meme was everywhere. Since making her debut appearance on Dr Phil, she has not only rode that internet wave of fame to collect big bucks, she has also dropped a mixtape, 15. The young artist graced the Eatons Hill Hotel for an all-ages show and it is an experience, to say the least.

Firstly, the whole environment feels as if it had potential candidates for a Dr Phil episode in itself. It has only been 10 minutes and there are people having meltdowns mid-vomit in the toilets, Bhad Bhabie's mother is strolling the perimeter of the venue taking photos with fans and a fight has broken out outside. Sober and scared, this is just the beginning of one of the most entertaining yet confusing performances this reviewer has seen to date.

Opening the set sees two of Bhad Bhabie's hype girls blasting bangers from Cardi B, Kid Cudi and Drake all while twerking around the stage and screaming at the crowd to, “Turn up!” and it works.

Bhad Bhabie confidently walks on stage sporting bright red, waist-length hair, insanely long fake nails, and a whole lot of attitude as she jumps straight into track Juice. With Mama Bregoli in peripheral vision, it is like watching a scene from Mean Girls unfold, as she films and loves every second of it.

The hit that started it all, These Heaux, goes off as Bregoli and co throw bunches of $5 and $10 notes into the crowd. Again, truly a bizarre experience but gig-goers are living for it and going for these notes like a flock of seagulls to a chip. Taking a step back there is something almost concerning watching a 15-year-old girl prancing and twerking along a stage, claiming she could, "Take a bitch home," but she smashes through popular tracks Trust Me, XXXTentacion's Look At Me! and personal favourite Gucci Flip Flops.

As the night comes to an end, Bhad Bhabie does not simmer down. Hi Bich and Gucci Flip Flops (again?) see the setlist to an end with Bregoli freestyling with no backing track, calling out Iggy Azalea. It is time to get out of this place and tick this one off the bucket list. A performance that needs to be seen to truly understand what an unusual experience it is, it's not only entertaining but surprisingly good. Thank you Bhad Bhabie!
