The Magical World is one of those marvelous wake-up calls to remind us that while the sun still shines here in the west, things ain’t so bad at all.

A refreshing lack of preoccupation with making the big time meanders cheerfully throughout Moleta's eighth long player. As humble as a homemade mull cookie, as reflective and delicate of voice as Sufjan Stevens at his accidental height, this is as pretension-free as folk music gets. White Crosses and Happy Girl are homely Perth tales. Ballgames In Birdwood Square is simply charming. The Magical World is one of those marvelous wake-up calls to remind us that while the sun still shines here in the west, things ain't so bad at all.
