Album Review: Ben & Ellen Harper - Childhood Dreams

Leave the Roses on the counter and get mum this.

Most sons will get their mum a card, some flowers and a lottery ticket for Mother's Day. Not Ben Harper. He goes ahead and writes half an album, gets her to write the other half, and then releases it at the same time the rest of us are queuing up at 7-11 for a box of Roses. The result is beautiful snapshots of Harper's childhood, sung and harmonised by mother and son. Song titles like Memories Of Gold give you some idea of the sentiment. Leave the Roses on the counter and get mum this.
