Album Review: Baio - Man Of The World

StarStarStar

"A worthy detour for Vampire Weekend fans, but the contemporary content will see it struggle for longevity."

More Baio Baio

"Learning to live with a decision/When it's not the one I would have made."

There's no shying away from the fact that the second album from Baio aka Chris Baio, bassist for Vampire Weekend, addresses some heavy political topics. The opening salvo from Man Of The World, Vin Mariani, from which this line comes, was written at the time of Brexit, and is one of a couple of pretty major events Baio references throughout. Angular and tidy production see Man Of The World as a worthy detour for Vampire Weekend fans, but the contemporary content will see it struggle for longevity.
