Baby Got Back opens with a montage of cartoon figures jerking and twerking their arses, and things only get weirder from there. A paean to the posterior, this is an hour of celebrating arses, strong women and an audience that can get behind both.
MC Memphis Mae gets the crowd worked up straight away, expertly blending raunch with humour as she takes us on a quest to make her arse famous.
The four other performers alternate routines that range from seriously sexy to laugh out loud funny. One absurdist piece ensures you'll never look at chocolate doughnuts in the same way again, but everyone will take away different highlights.
This is a thoroughly engrossing show that sustains its momentum for the full hour and expertly weaves themes of feminism and empowerment throughout.
Burlesque isn't meant to take itself too seriously, and Baby Got Back certainly doesn't. Instead, this cheeky show offers an hour of X-rated laughs. Be prepared for full frontal nudity and some confronting jokes and you'll have a great time at one of the highlights of the Fringe.
