"A storyteller in the truest sense of the word."
Cruising on the Swan River as the sun sets over Kings Park certainly makes for some idyllic scenery. Tonight it was all the more serene as Kirbanu treated an intimate crowd to her penultimate performance of this year's Perth Fringe Festival. Originally from Adelaide, and performing her Fringe World debut, this nomadic songstress has been calling Germany home for some time and performing at festivals throughout Western Europe and beyond.
Instantly connecting with her audience, Kirbanu held them entranced for the entirety of the performance. A more than capable guitarist with a mixture of delicate finger picking and strumming, her beautiful voice and subtle use of backing tracks wove a rich aural tapestry as she guided them on a journey through songs of love, loss and personal growth. A storyteller in the truest sense of the word, she prefaced each song by giving her appreciative audience an insight into what has inspired them, be it people she has met on her travels or the places she has been.
An insightful songwriter, Kirbanu is more than happy to wear her heart on her sleeve. Her folk-pop songs are delivered with an honesty and warmth that can't help but draw the listener in. With her time in Perth having sadly come to an end, Kirbanu now heads home for a run of shows at this year's Adelaide Fringe.
