Two-time Grammy-winning hip hop group Arrested Development brought their amazing live show to Perth on the last stop of their 20th anniversary tour of Australia.
Opening the show were multi-award-winning five-piece locals The Brow Horn Orchestra. The high-energy performers played a set that got the few patrons who arrived early bopping their heads, if not moving around a little too. The band showcased hits from their Two Fires EP, as well more recent tracks such as Fade, delivering a genre-defying set that could only be described as their 'own' sound. Watching them perform, it's not hard to tell why these guys are currently one of Australia's most in-demand acts.
As the venue started to fill up, Alison Wonderland took the stage. Coming from a classically trained background, her knowledge of music was evident during her hour-long set. Dropping short skits consisting of artists ranging from Nicki Minaj to Massive Attack, Dead Prez to Busta Rhymes, her set was certainly eclectic and hyped the now-half-full venue up for what was to come.
Opening with a dance showcase, Arrested Development displayed huge amounts of energy from the second they took the stage. Playing hits from throughout their 20-year career, the group made sure that they engaged with the crowd during their hour-and-a-half set. Standout performances included Raining Revolution, Living, Ease My Mind and Revolution. A welcome surprise was the short tribute to the 'golden era' of hip hop, aka the '90s, featuring tracks from Kris Kross and House Of Pain, which then led to Arrested Development performing their hit Mr Wendell.

Another dancing showcase was performed before Arrested Development dropped crowd favourite Tennessee, during which the band also took a photo of the crowd. Group founder and lead singer Speech asked the crowd if they were A Tribe Called Quest fans before dropping a Tribe beat, which then led to an energetic performance of hit single People Everyday that sent the crowd out into the rain with nothing but positive vibes.
