A brilliant, and highly innovative app
QKSMS is an app that has been garnering a lot of attention in the Android community lately, and for very good reason. It's an SMS app created by a 17 year old developer named Moez Bhatti from Canada. Although Bhatti may be young, he has created arguably the most attractive SMS app on the market.
It's one of the first apps to adhere to Google's new design guidelines, called Material Design. Which is a new design language Google introduced with the upcoming new version of Android. Not only does QKSMS have an appealing design, it has boatloads of features and customisation. Our top picks include, an underutilized ‘Quick Reply’ feature, which shows new messages in a small popup window, allowing you to quickly reply to the message anywhere on your phone, without having to open the app.
You can have your message notifications mirror onto your desktop computer via PushBullet, allowing you to read and reply to messages without using your phone. Another useful feature is the ability to format text messages using italics, bold and underlining, a feature that doesn’t exist in traditional text messaging, however this feature only works for recipients who are also using QKSMS.
In terms of customisations, QKSMS offers you a staggering 36 different colour schemes, including a ‘night mode’ version of each colour. You can also change the LED notification colour for new messages. The list goes on. QKSMS’s biggest caveat, is that it’s not yet publicly available. If you want it now, you can join the QKSMS Alpha group on Google+ and get an invite, alternatively you can wait for it to release soon, in late August. This is a brilliant, and highly innovative app, bound for success.
