Some albums let you know exactly what to expect in the first track – not so with Sydney producer Anomie and this largely instrumental release.
An eclectic mix of dark hip hop beats and eerie old-school synth loops spread over 14 tracks, the album swirls around your ears like beautiful musical eddies. There’s a distinct Asian flavour permeating through the tracks, sometimes punctuated but mostly left as a subtle, lingering taste in the audio. Anomie builds up tracks like cloud formations, gradually coalescing from wispy grey to rumbling black, ready to pour down and soak you to the bone.
