"[Black] made the set more intimate with more crowd interactions, which the crowd lapped up."

More Andy Black More Andy Black

With guitar in hand, Tyne-James Organ kicked off the night for the last leg of Andy Black's Australian tour. A strange choice for an opener, but Organ held his own, with incredible vocals and guitar skills as he launched into Lucy and Lose Change.

Before the crowd could even blink, the theatre darkened and bright blinding lights flicked as Andy Black graced the stage with his two-piece band. Black launched straight into Stay Alive, getting the crowd excited as their hands swayed in the air. It was disappointing to see the Astor only half full for Andy Black, however he used this to his advantage and made the set more intimate with more crowd interactions, which the crowd lapped up.

Ribcage gave off the pop punk vibe as the crowd sang along to every word before a Billy Idol cover of Dancing With Myself sent them dancing and swaying. Being the frontman of Black Veil Brides, Black's solo album The Shadow Side is completely different from his usually heavy guitars and rock sound, as the album has a very commercial pop punk sound.

Louder Than Your Love was more alternative rock, giving off major My Chemical Romance vibes, explained by the fact Gerard Way co-wrote the song. Black's vocals are incredible. yet still humble as he sung Beautiful Pain while Paint It Black had a bit more emotion lyrically. The squeals and strange comments from the crowd got Black laughing, "I can't hear anything with these ear buds, I'm not being rude, but I am an asshole," he explained before launching into Drown Me Out, with fists pumping in the air from the eager crowd. Put The Gun Down was a mellow and full of emotion song, even getting a few people slow dancing and a few tears before last song They Don't Need To Understand rang out as the Astor plunged into darkness.

As the squeals echoed in the theatre, Black emerged again with his phone, grabbing the microphone and played a new Black Veil Brides a song off his phone, sending the crowd crazy with excitement. Andy Black finished off his intimate set with We Don't Have To Dance, before he thanked the crowd, threw a few goodies and gave a few more high fives.
